About Me

My name is Paul Walsh, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) working in the field of Mental Health since 2008. I received my graduate training at the California Institute of Integral Studies, where I studied Integral Counseling Psychology with an emphasis on holistic mental health treatment and the role spirituality can play in healing and personal growth.

Throughout my career, I have worked in a wide range of clinical settings, including residential programs, community mental health outpatient clinics, Kaiser Permanente, and group private practices. I have supported individuals navigating anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, medical stress, and periods of profound uncertainty. Across all of these settings, one truth has remained consistent: no two clients are alike, and each person has the capacity for growth and meaningful change.

At the heart of my work is a Humanistic, client-centered approach. While I draw from a variety of therapeutic perspectives, I believe that healing and transformation occur through a strong, authentic therapeutic relationship. Therapy is not about being “fixed,” but about being deeply understood — creating the conditions for insight, self-trust, and lasting change to emerge at your own pace. If you’ve ever felt misunderstood, rushed, or reduced to a diagnosis in past experiences, this approach may feel different.

I started Quiet Light Counseling during a period of significant change in my own life, which inspired me to create a private practice dedicated to supporting clients through life transitions, uncertainty, and times of emotional upheaval. Many people seek therapy during moments like these, when familiar ways of coping no longer feel sufficient.
